2nd annual Ugly Sweater Pub Crawl set to raise funds for Greenwood Foodbank in Phinneywood this Saturday

crawlThe 2nd Annual Ugly Christmas Sweater Pub Crawl is set for this Saturday, December 7 from 6 p.m. to midnight. The pub crawl is sponsored by Tim’s Tavern (Fremont Ave and N 105th St) and will raise money for Greenwood Food Bank (9041 Greenwood Ave N).

Last year over 50 pub crawlers went to six bars in the Phinneywood area and raised $500 for the Seattle Cancer Care Alliance’s Mammovan. This year’s event will have over 20 bars involved, offering drink specials for all pub crawlers.

To participate simply donate $20 for a wristband (or donate $15 with two cans of food) at the participating bars in Phinneywood anytime this week (check out the list of participating bars here). Wristbands will also be available on Saturday from volunteers on the Emerald City Trolley shuttle bus who will be running a free shuttle service every 30 minutes from Tim’s Tavern down Greenwood Avenue to Park Pub (N 62nd Street and Phinney Ave N).

The pub crawl was founded last year by Tim’s Tavern owner Tim Arnot in an effort to get people out and about patronizing neighborhood businesses while contributing to a local charity. This year with federally-funded food stamp programs being cut back, all proceeds from wristband sales and collected food will be donated directly back to the community via the Greenwood Food Bank.

“We hope the pub crawl will be a great way to build community awareness for the needy, especially during the holidays, and promote both new and established venues in the Phinneywood neighborhood,” says Arnot.
