greatlocationAccording to Eater.com U-District favorite Pam’s Kitchen (corner of NE 50th St and University Ave) is set to open a flagship “dinnerhouse” in Ballard early in 2014.

The Caribbean restaurant, owned by Pam Jacob, has been serving up authentic Trinidadian dishes both in the U-District and most recently at their new Eastlake location (609 Eastlake Ave E), which opened last month. The menu features mouth watering items including traditional rotis (flatbread wraps), coco-bread sandwiches, and the popular jerk chicken sandwich.

Jacob wanted to create an environment for people to experience new flavors and to also appreciate the tastes of home. “We didn’t know there were so many Caribbean people in Seattle,” Jacob said. “When we opened up this place, we realized that they don’t have a place to feel like home.”

According to Julia Wayne from Eater.com, Jacob is planning the opening of the Ballard flagship to coincide with the closure of the U-District location when the light-rail construction is set in March 2014.
