SPU preparing to close North Transfer Station for 2 years

Seattle Public Utilities (SPU) is preparing to replace the city’s North Transfer Station (1350 N 34th St) with a more efficient facility that will serve the future needs of Seattle. To prepare for the demolition and rebuild, the station will close permanently from 5:30 p.m. on Janauary 20.

North Transfer Station Rebuild Project crews will be working on the rebuild of the new station which is set to open on the same site in 2016.

Options are limited for locals needing to use transfer station facilities during the closure. Check out the options below:

  • Visit the South Transfer Station (130 S Kenyon St) in South Park. Opening hours are 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., 7 days a week.
