SPD looking for witnesses after good Samaritan beaten outside bar on Super Bowl Sunday

Updated: Paul Edie called 911 when he saw a man lying on the street outside Ballard Loft on Super Bowl Sunday. Moments later, he was hit by a bystander, resulting in multiple facial fractures, according to a report by KIRO TV.

Seattle Police wants witnesses to step forward to help identify Edie’s attacker.

Edie says when he first saw the man lying on the street, he asked bystanders if anyone had called 911. Nobody had called, so he dialed his phone. That’s when a bystander told him, “Don’t call 911,” Edie said. He called anyway, and that’s when the man attacked, knocking him down in the middle of the call. Edie had reconstructive facial surgery at Harborview Medical Center.

The attack happened 5:30 p.m. on Super Bowl Sunday. If you have any information relating to the incident please contact SPD at (206) 684-0850. Here’s the story from KIRO:

My Ballard has contacted Seattle Police, and we’re awaiting a response for further information about the incident.

  1. Too bad the victim has to rely on passive-aggressive Ballardites to come forward. They wont. Hopefully there was somebody outside of the Seattle vicinity who saw it and could provide information.
    (Get well soon)

  2. PASSIVE-AGGRESSIVE BALLARDITES????? OR ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT THE YUPPIES WHO MOVED IN THAT COMPLAIN ABOUT CRIME BUT ARE TO BUSY BEING UPPITY AND QUEEN ANNISH TO COME FORWARD?

  3. what happened to the guy lying in the street?

also, I am surprised not every bar has a video surveillance system to monitor their patron’s behavior in the vicinity.
