Saturday, March 8

  • Friends of Discovery Park Annual Meeting  from 9:15 a.m. at Discovery Park Visitor Center (3801 Discovery Park Blvd). Sign-in, Meet&Greet, and Refreshments start at 9:15 a.m., with the Meeting at 10 a.m. Program includes a panel of Park Staff and WP Treatment Plant/King County Staff who will provide an update of Park and Plant issues, followed by a Q&A.   • Beekeeping 201: Beginning Your Apiary at Swanson’s Nursery (9710 15th Ave NW) from 10 a.m. For people intent on raising bees, this seminar shows how to start your hive with confidence. Corky Luster, apiarist and founder of the Ballard Bee Company, uses a a demo hive and mock-bee package as he demonstrates how to install bee packages and perform basic bee inspections.   • Meditation Class: Introduction to Meditation for Spiritual Awareness at NW Activity Center (5429 NW 32nd St) from 1:30 p.m. – 2:30 p.m. Participants learn the basic concepts of meditation and the positive interaction between meditation and success in everyday life. The class is free of charge and followed by a vegetarian meal.
