911 service outage affects King County

Early this morning a widespread 9-1-1 outage affected areas of Washington and Oregon, including King County. The outage lasted from approximately 1:30 a.m. – 4 a.m this morning and service has now been restored.

According to CenturyLink spokesperson Kerry Zimmer, the cause for the disruption in service is still unknown.

Although service has been restored to landline and wireless, some VoIP callers may be still experiencing some temporary problems.

If you are unable to get through to 911 emergency services in Seattle call (206) 583-2111.

King County officials are asking residents to refrain from testing 911 services unless they have a real emergency.
