Groundswell Northwest is inviting the community to join them on an urban adventure this Saturday, as a way to get residents thinking about the future of open space in Ballard, while also discovering other place making ideas for the neighborhood.

Starting at 10 a.m. at Ballard Commons Park, Groundswell NW volunteers will inventory the existing assets and potential new assets for additional parks and open spaces in Ballard, as the group continues its effort to build upon the non-profit’s 1996 Open Space Inventory and Action Plan. For this “Discovery Day,” walking groups will be organized by neighborhood, giving residents the opportunity to meet with their Neighborhood Open Space Captain and voice their views on open space.

Residents planning on attending are asked to print out and distribute this pdf flyer to friends and neighbors. Late last month, the group also held an open house at the Ballard Library to gather input on open space in the neighborhood.

For more information on the event, which is scheduled to go until 1 p.m., and will take place rain or shine, click here.

  1. Sam –

We are hoping that neighbors will join us in an exploration of the Ballard District. We will be looking at existing and potential open space.

I hope that you can join us and give your input about how to improve our neighbhood.
