Director and producer Joshua V. Hassel will be on hand for a screening of his documentary, “Anders Zorn in the Gilded Age” at the Nordic Heritage Museum on Thursday evening.

Filmed at the ZornMuseet in Mora, Sweden, the documentary looks at the life of one of the most famous living artists at the turn of the 20th century, with insights from Zorn Museum director Johan Cederlund, along with other Zorn experts from Stockholm’s National Museum, San Francisco’s Legion of Honor, and Boston’s Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum.

Zorn is well-known for portrait paintings that captured the character and personality of those he was painting, with subjects including U.S. Presidents Grover Cleveland, William Howard Taft, and Theodore Roosevelt, along with his depictions of everyday Swedish life. The documentary has been screened on public television stations across the country since its release.

Hassel will introduce the movie, and lead a question and answer session after the screening, which starts at 7 p.m. There is a suggested donation of $5 for attendees.
