Nighttime work will close lanes on Holman Road on Wednesday

By Joe Veyera

Traffic on Holman Road Northwest will be limited to one lane in each direction on Wednesday night and into Thursday morning, as Seattle Department of Transportation crews continue grinding and paving work on the stretch between 7th Avenue Northwest and Greenwood Ave North.

Beginning at 8 p.m. on Wednesday, crews will begin closing the eastbound lanes of Holman Road, and shifting traffic to the westbound lanes, where one lane will be open in each direction. Grinding work will be noisy, and is expected to last until 6 a.m. on Thursday.

Nighttime paving will begin on Wednesday, July 2, and is expected to be completed the next day. Paving is weather dependent, and the dates are subject to change.

Earlier this month, paving work on the westbound lanes of Holman Road had to be rescheduled due to weather. That work was completed last Thursday, June 19. The entire Holman Road project, which began in April and includes pedestrian safety improvements along with repaving work between Greenwood Ave. North and Northwest 87th Street, is expected to be substantially complete by late summer. Funding for the project includes a Federal Surface Transportation Program (STP) preservation grant of $1.1 million and Bridging the Gap funding of $2.7 million.
