East Ballard will play host to a neighborhood gathering for the ages next Saturday, as it hosts the seventh annual Phinney Ditch Block Party.

Starting at 4 p.m. at 6226 6th Ave NW, the party, which promises to, “rock your socks-in-sandals off,” will feature cream pie jousting, barbarian noodle wars, spam carving, dodge ball and face painting. Organizers promise the party will be bigger than last year, with more events, more yards, and more fun.

There will also be a fair share of live music, with Loud Motor, Bugs, Future Fridays, and the Fabulous Juncos all set to perform.

Now, event planners are putting out the call for local artists, artisans, and practitioners to join in a Curiosities Carnival, inspired by the Stumbletown Artists Trunk Show, for anyone interested in setting up and talking about what they love and do, in the spirit of buying local. Also included in the showcase is the Summer 2014 Ballard Pop-Up Food Garden Project.

If you’re interested in joining in on the Curiosities Carnvial, email phinneyditch@gmail.com.
