What’s on this weekend

While SeafoodFest will take center stage in Downtown Ballard this weekend, there’s no shortage of other events happening in the neighborhood. Take a look at everything that Ballard has to offer this Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

Friday, July 11

  • Love Shack: Sleepover! at the Ballard Underground (2220 NW Market St) at 7 p.m. Sketch comedy. Tickets from $10. Click here for more details
  • Live Music at Conor Byrne Pub (5140 Ballard Ave NW) at 9 p.m. Featuring Brother James and The Soul-vation, Kissing Potion and The Scotch Tops. For more information, click here.

Saturday, July 12

  • Lavender Seminar at Swansons Nursery (9710 15th Ave NW) from 10 — 11 a.m. Join perennial expert Rolf Hokansson as he discusses how to use lavender, including instructions on cultivating, harvesting and drying the herb, as well as its culinary, decorative, and medicinal uses. Click here for more information.
  • Seattle Tilth’s Chicken Coop & Urban Farm Tour from 10 a.m. — 4 p.m. Four Ballard locations are included in this year’s list of 25 urban farms & chicken coop locations. Click here for more information.
  • Ballard SeafoodFest from 11 a.m. — 9 p.m. The 40th annual event produced by the Ballard Chamber of Commerce will feature dozens of food, arts & crafts, non-profit, and sponsor vendors. Click here for more information.
  • Summer Concerts at the Ballard Locks featuring the Greenwood Concert Band. The show starts at 2 p.m. on the Ballard Locks lawn. Click here to see the full summer schedule.
  • Summer Pruning Seminar at Swansons Nursery (9710 15th Ave NW) from 2 — 3:30 p.m. Professional pruner and landscape architect Dan Gilchrist shares his expertise on summer pruning and thinning of Japanese maple trees. Click here for more information.
  • Ballard Skate Festi Bowl at Ballard Commons Park (5701 22nd Ave NW) from 3 — 9 p.m. This addition to SeafoodFest will include skateboarding instruction, a slalom event, a kids skate exhibition, and a competition. Click here for more information.
  • Phinney Ditch Block Party (6226 6th Ave NW) at 4 p.m. This year’s event will feature live music, cream pie jousting, barbarian noodle wars, spam carving, dodge ball and face painting. Click here for more information.

  • “All’s Well That Ends Well” at Salmon Bay Park (2001 NW Canoe Pl) at 7 p.m. GreenStage presents its abridged version of this Shakespeare classic. Admission is free. Click here for more details.

  • Block Party at the Ballard Community Center (6020 28th Ave NW) from 3 — 6 p.m. A collaboration between the Vona Church and the Seattle Creative Arts Center (SCAC), the event will feature live music, activities, games, inflatables, and a barbecue. Click here for more details.
