The fourth annual Dick’s Drive-In Walk around Seattle is set for this Sunday, September 7.

During the event participants are set to trek for 22 miles around Seattle to all six Dick’s locations in the quest to raise funds for the Dick’s Change for Charity partners.

The urban hike to Dick’s started a few years ago when Ballard High School graduates Lars Phillips and JP Osseward thought it would be fun to walk across the city from north to south in one day. The trio contacted Jim Spady (son of Dick’s founder Dick Spady), who has joined them for parts of the walk in years past.

“We started doing the urban hikes because they’re fun, great exercise, and a great way to see parts of the city you wouldn’t otherwise know,” Phillips told us. “The Dick’s Drive In walk is particularly great because Dick’s is of course a Seattle institution, the food is delicious, and the Spady family has been incredibly welcoming of our idea, generous with their time, and are genuinely amazing people. (Plus the exercise is a great way to burn off all the calories!)” Phillips writes.

This year the event is officially partnered with Dick’s and the entire crew is encouraging locals to get involved! “We’re proud to officially team with and support this event alongside our awesome fans,” says Spady.

Interested walkers should meet at the Edmonds Dick’s Drive-In location at 10 a.m. with the departure time set for 10:35 a.m. The crew will then visit the other five Dick’s locations following the schedule below:

  • Lake City – 1:15 p.m.
  • Holman Rd – 3 p.m.
  • Wallingford – 4:25 p.m.
  • Broadway – 6:15 p.m.
  • Queen Anne – 7:15 p.m.

Walkers who make a $20+ donation at Edmonds will receive a punch card to take to each store and an orange t-shirt to wear on the trek.

Those who are unable to participate in the trek can still help by making a Change for Charity donation at any Dick’s Drive-In Restaurant. In honor of all our Walk-A-Thon attendees Dick’s pledges to match up to $2,000 of all donations given to our Change for Charity boxes on Sunday, September 7th.
