Package thieves return to Ballard

As the holiday season approaches it seems that it is bringing with it the return of package thieves to our neighborhood. We have received a number of emails from readers who have recently had their packages stolen.

My Ballard reader Jacqueline emailed in to report that they had several packages stolen from their from their porch last Wednesday at the corner of 20th Ave NW and NW 58th St. Jacqueline reported that her neighbor also had packages stolen around the same time.

Last year, package thieves ran rampant around the neighborhood with My Ballard readers eventually assisting SPD officers to bring some of the perpetrators to justice.

With the increase of package theft in mind, it is important to be on the lookout for others in the community. When ordering online attempt to send the packages to your work location or to somewhere where people will be present to receive the package.

Alternatively, if you are ordering from Amazon they offer a secure Amazon Locker service where packages can be picked up from lockers at various locations around Seattle including at the Ballard 7 Eleven (1550 NW Market St). The service has no extra charge and provides additional security for your packages.
