Man jumped by attacker on 24th Ave NW

My Ballard reader Kimberly emailed in to report that her husband was assaulted in Ballard at approximately 5:45 p.m. last Saturday while walking south on 24th Ave NW half a block away from Café Besalu.

Kimberly reports that her husband was jumped from behind by a man while they were walking together.

They first saw the man as they passed Olaf’s when he veered towards them in a threatening manner. Kimberly and her husband yelled at him as they were startled and kept walking south on 24th Ave NW.

It was at this point that her husband noticed that the man had turned around to follow them. They continued walking and when they got to NW 60th St the man attacked Kimberly’s husband from behind.

“Right at 60th the guy tackled my husband from behind and knocked him to the ground. They wrestled and all the while I screamed for help and got my phone out to call 911,” writes Kimberly.

Kimberly’s husband was able to fend off the attacker and she called 911 as the suspect ran west on 60th Ave NW.

Kimberly describes the attacker as tall, thin, approximately 6 foot 4 with short sandy hair. Kimberly also reports that he was wearing a blue windbreaker jacket with a “C” emblem and distressed jeans at the time of the incident.

“He did not appear to have a weapon and he said nothing the entire time,” writes Kimberly.
