Truck and dog stolen from Ballard home

Posted by Danielle Anthony-Goodwin on January 28th, 2015

Update January 29:

Henry emailed in to let us know that Cooper has been found and is now safely at home.

“We got our dog back last night from the help of local blogs and concerned ballardities. Now if we can find the truck and tools all will be well. Thank you to all,” writes Henry.

If you have seen the silver Dodge 2002 pick-up with the license plate is A41857U email angie.lafave19@gmail.com or tips@myballard.com and we will pass on the information.

Original Post:

At approximately 11 a.m. this morning a truck (pictured below) was stolen from a Ballard home near at NW 65th St and 22nd Ave NW.

The truck belonged to a contractor named Henry who was working on the home and his dog was inside it at the time. The truck’s license plate is A41857U and it is a silver Dodge 2002 pick-up.

The truck has a lumber rack on the back over the bed and has work tools for Henry’s construction business inside.

The owner is very concerned for the safety of his dog Cooper (pictured below). Cooper is a 6 years-old Brittany spaniel, and is white and brown in color. He is wearing his dog collar with the Henry’s contact details on it and he’s micro-chipped.

The SPD has been notified about the theft.

Is it legal to profile cats?

I like how the contractor built what appears to be a portion of Limback Lumber on top of this house.

Wonder where he bought his wood?

This sickens me. As a victim of two property crimes in only 10 months ( Including a stolen car) I keep asking myself why in god’s name I moved here? That said, as I know that is not productive, I hsve the number of the SPD neighbor relations and have been considering calling them to ask them to set up a meeting in Ballard. Are there any concerned citizens here interested in doing same? His pet was stolen, more like abducted, and it’s not at all funny.

Where are all the commenters who normally say we shouldn’t be suspicious of strangers poking around our properties or coming to our doors on specious business?

I hope he gets dog and truck back and that someday My Ballard goes back to comments with real identities so that we don’t have to endure troll making lame jokes about other people’s losses.

“I like how the contractor built what appears to be a portion of Limback Lumber on top of this house.”

…and Cooper the dog looks like he could be one of the Limback boys who work the counter!

On Nextdoor.com (a much better alternative to myballard), it has been reported that Cooper was found wandering around the area tagless.

anonymous, was the truck found? I hope the dog bit the thief. I haven’t looked into Nextdoor. Too many things to check into now, but maybe down the road.

Anonymous, what kind of blog site requires one to put either credit card number, social security to log on? Sounds bogus to me.

@3, it didn’t use to be this bad here. I’ve lived in Loyal Heights for 15 years, and in the past 5 years things have started to turn a bit. I’ve been hit with mail theft, package theft, vandalism and even a scary encounter with a tweaker that did $5K of damage to my car in my back ally.

I figure when I get fearful enough to want to carry a sidearm, it’s time to move.
