As she did last year, local resident Molly McLachlan has designed a special t-shirt for this year’s Syttende Mai festival in tribute to her family’s Nordic roots.

“Ballard has always been a part of my life and the Norwegian Independence Day parade has been a tradition in my family for many years,” says MacLachlan.

MacLachlan has been involved in the Syttende Mai parade with her family’s business, Anderson’s Door Company, since childhood. “My grandfather Orville Anderson is always leading the way. He dresses up as a Viking with his trailing ducks,” she says.

MacLachlan has designed the one of a kind Syttende Mai shirt (in both adults and kids sizes) for the Ballard community and it is available for purchase online until April 28.

Cost for the shirt is $19.15 plus shipping.
