What’s on this Memorial Day weekend

It’s Memorial Day weekend – here’s the scoop on the happenings around town:

Friday, May 22:

  • King Harald of Norway at Bergen Place: 4:15 p.m. King Harald will be joined by Seattle Mayor Ed Murray to celebrate the mural remodel at Bergen Place.
  • Swanson’s Nursery Memorial Day Weekend Sale: offering 30% off pots and containers, as well as 25% off all orchids. The sale begins Friday, and ends on Monday, May 25. Swansons is open daily from 9 AM to 7 PM.
  • NW Folklife Festival at Seattle Center: Folklife runs all weekend – from May 22 through May 25 – and features artists, musicians, dancers and storytellers from around the world. Admission is free, but there is a $10 suggested donation.
  • Live music at Conor Byrne Pub (5140 Ballard Ave NW) at 9 p.m.Silent City Productions is proud to present the fourth annual installment of Punk As Folk, an annual celebration of punk-inspired folk music and folk-inspired punk music to coincide with the Northwest Folklife Festival. Saturday, May 23:

  • Beer Garden soft opening at Peddler Brewery: Join Peddler Brewery (1514 NW Leary Way) at the soft opening of their beer garden. “Sunshine + beer + food trucks + lawn games + bikes, yes we agree it’s a perfect combination.  Our beer garden is located right behind the brewery, can hold up to 400 people, and will have a back bar with our 4 most popular beers on tap.”
  • Free Community Health Fair at Nyer Urness House: 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. 1753 NW 65th St. “Talk to pharmacists about your health-bring your medications with you and review your medicines. Sign up for health insurance and get to know your local resources. Free lunch from Alison’s Costal Cafe and Bakery-first come first served.
  • Live Music at Tractor Tavern (5213 Ballard Ave NW) at 9 p.m. FeaturingThe Weatherside Whiskey Band (album release) w/ Warren G Hardings & friends. Tickets $8. Click here to purchase tickets and for more information.
