Summer Solstice Fair to take over Fremont this weekend

fremontThis weekend is the annual Fremont Solstice Fair, which means the streets of Fremont will be filled with music, naked cyclists, and everything bizarre in between. Friday will kick off the fair with a music festival; Saturday will be the parade, which will be full of wacky floats, marching bands, and other free-spirited street performers (and of course a flock of nude bikers) and more music; Sunday the excitement will continue with yoga a colorful dog parade through the streets of Fremont.

Here’s a detailed line-up of events:

Friday, June 19:

  • Music from Deltron 3030, Ra Scion, and Ayo Dot & the Uppercuts at the Redhook Main Stage. Gates open at 6 p.m. Tickets are $25 in advance and $30 at the gate; two-day passes are $45. Kids 10 and under are free and must be accompanied by adult. Learn more about the bands here.

Saturday, June 20:

  • Fremont Solstice Parade at 3 p.m. The parade starts at 3rd Ave NW and Leary and ends at Gas Works Park. where the Fremont Arts Council hosts the Fremont Solstice Celebration featuring HONK Fest West, a music festival of local and national community street bands.  There will be food trucks, a beer garden, art installations, and four stages of band performances.  The Fremont Solstice Celebration begins at 3:30 p.m. and rocks the park until 9 p.m.
  • Music from The Presidents of the United States of America, Ayron Jones and the Way, and Fox and the Law  at the Redhook Main Stage. Gates open at 6 p.m. Tickets are $25 in advance and $30 at the gate; two-day passes are $45. Kids 10 and under are free and must be accompanied by adult. Learn more about the bands here.

Sunday, June 21:

  • Yoga for the Solstice10:30 a.m. on the Rocket Block. Yoga teacher Laura Yon will lead a solstice-inspired, one hour yoga practice for all levels complete with summer sun salutations. Free raffle prizes will be given away from Laura Yon, KIND Bar, and Barefoot Yoga.
  • Dog Parade, 2:30 p.m. Registration takes place on Sunday on 35th Avenue & Phinney, behind the big purple slide from 11am-1:30pm. A $10 registration fee benefits, COLA, Citizens for Off Leash Areas, and is required per dog family. Dress up your dog and join in on the furry fun!

Thousands will flock to the area all weekend long, so be prepared for extra traffic. On Saturday, the parade route will be closed to cars starting at 2:30 p.m.
