Another phase of construction for the new north-south Ballard greenway begins tomorrow (Wednesday) on 17th Ave NW and NW 85th St. Crews with the Seattle Department of Transportation will be reducing traffic to one lane in both directions and restrict access at 17th Ave NW and NW 85th St. The work will be to improve pedestrian access for the neighborhood greenway being developed in the area.
SDOT says work is scheduled to begin at 7 a.m. on Wednesday, September 9 and last for approximately six weeks. There will be traffic restrictions in place at all hours.

Local access to 17th Avenue Northwest is accessible on Northwest 87th Street via 15th Avenue Northwest or 18th Avenue Northwest for the first three weeks of construction. For the last three weeks of construction, those needing local access to 17th Avenue Northwest are encouraged to use NW 83rd Street via 15th Avenue NW or 18th Avenue Northwest. Through traffic is encouraged to use 15th Avenue Northwest as a detour.
During construction at this intersection, temporary pedestrian paths will be clearly marked and temporary ADA ramps will be installed.
