Local businesses host month-long coat drive

The folks at The Sweet Spot (3507 Evanston Ave N) and Ballard salon VAIN (5401 Ballard Ave NW), are hosting a month-long coat drive to support those in need within our community.

Donations will benefit The International Rescue Committee, a nonprofit that provides aid to refugees and other survivors of humanitarian crises, and The Jubilee Women’s Center, a Seattle-based nonprofit that serves nearly 1,500 impoverished women by providing safe, affordable community housing, educational resources, job skills and training, and free clothing.

The Sweet Spot folks teamed up with VAIN for this year’s drive after two successful years hosting the event in the local community. “We wanted to make an even bigger impact by teaming up with another local organization. The VAIN team share similar values in supporting our community,” says Lara from The Sweet Spot.

Through November locals can drop off clean, gently used or new winter coats for men, women and children at The Sweet Spot (3507 Evanston Ave N) or any VAIN location.

Each coat donated will receive one raffle ticket for a chance to win prizes from VAIN and a bunch of other local sponsors and businesses. The raffle winners will be announced mid-November.

“Clean out that coat closet and help people in need stay warm this winter. Thanks in advance for your support,” writes Cassie Tarver from the Ballard VAIN team.
