My Ballard reader Chris emailed in to report that Café Besalu (5909 24th Ave NW) will be reopening with temporarily limited hours from Thursday, January 14.

“Croissant-lovers who frequent Cafe Besalu know that the couple who runs the cafe usually close for the holidays. But the holidays weren’t very happy for owner-baker James, who was hospitalized for much of the break,” writes Chris.

Until James recovers opening hours will be limited to 7 a.m. – 3 p.m. from Thursday through Sunday only.

According to Chris, Kaire Miller, James’ wife and partner in culinary crime, will be baking all the pastries people crave.

The My Ballard team wishes James a very speedy recovery.
