Attempted break in reported on 58th and 17th

My Ballard reader Silvia emailed in to report an attempted break in at her apartment on 58th and 17th that occurred on Monday afternoon between 12 p.m. – 4 p.m.

“They were trying to jam open our front door (based on the damage my front door took). Though they managed to open the deadbolt, they were not able to open the doorknob lock.  Nothing was stolen, thankfully,” writes Silvia.

The incident was reported to the SPD, who said that Silvia’s “old school” reinforced door prevented the intruders from forcing their way in unlike the flimsy newer, cheaper doors.

SPD is encouraging locals to ensure that their doors are secure and to report any incidents to the SPD North Precinct at  (206) 684-0850. Remember to call 911 in the case of an emergency.
