Ballard SeafoodFest set for this weekend

This Saturday, July 9, from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Sunday, July 10, 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., Ballard SeafoodFest will take place off of Market Street, Ballard Ave, Leary and 22nd.

SeafoodFest originally began in 1974 as a community celebration of Ballard’s historic connection to the fishing industry and the neighborhood’s Nordic roots.

Today, this free two-day festival attracts over 65,000 people who come to enjoy the traditional salmon barbecue and much more: local music, arts and crafts, family entertainment, a beer garden, a skate event, and yes – more seafood!

Extensive information on vendors and food/drink offerings for this year’s festival can be found online and organizers encourage attendees to use Seafood Fest’s interactive map.

On both days of the festival, Ballard will be filled with free music at the Veris Law Group PLLC and Vulcan Inc. MainStage. Check out the schedule below:

This year, the Festi-Bowl skate competition is back! The event is Saturday only, and times are subject to change based on participation.

Registration begins at 11 a.m. Clinics and lessons will be held from 12 p.m. – 3 p.m. The slalom event will kick off at 3 p.m., at 5 p.m. there will be a 12-and-under bowl jam. The Ladies division follows at 6 p.m. with an open contest around 7 p.m.

Ballard Commons Park is the spot for family-friendly and free activities during the festival. These include a Seattle Police Department Precinct Picnic, boat building, and a salmon artwork project. A bouncy house and large slide will also be set up.

Organizers are still on the lookout for volunteers. Locals who are interested can register online.
