Barre3, a global network of studios and the innovative leader of the ballet barre fitness movement, has opened a brand new Ballard location at 5711 24th Ave NW (suite #150).

Barre3 is a modern evolution of the ballet barre workout created by fitness and wellness expert and author, Sadie Lincoln, that offers a whole-body health approach to wellness with smart, balanced and effective workouts influenced by yoga and Pilates and nutritional guidance based on sensible, whole foods.

Barre3 signature workouts balance strength training through isometric holds and small, one- inch movements with seamless recovery stretches. Unlike other barre-inspired workouts, barre3 incorporates larger, functional movements with low-impact cardio to jumpstart the metabolism and re-oxygenate the body.

Ballard barre3 owner Kimberly Johanson says that opening the studio in Ballard was a no-brainer.

“Ballard was the obvious choice in where a studio should be; not just because it is a vibrant community with an opportunity to create an amazing, inviting space and serve the many surrounding local neighborhoods, but because it embodied what my studio goal is, to create a generous, caring and supportive environment that loves connecting friends, family and health,” says Johanson.

Johnson started doing barre3 in February 2014 and has loved it ever since. “Everything about the studio – instructors, aesthetics, music, fun, community, supportive environment – made me feel more successful as a person than I had in a long time,” says Johanson.

She then quit her job in chemical engineering, auditioned to be an instructor and taught for several months before realizing that she wanted to open her own studio here in Ballard. The Ballard barre3 team aims to provide support, knowledge and friendship to every client that walks through the doors.

“We are thrilled to make Ballard a part of the barre3 family,” says Johanson.

To celebrate their opening, barre3 Ballard will offer free classes (with complimentary childcare) during the first week of business, July 11 – July 17 in addition to raffles, tastings, and local business pop-ups.

In terms of the schedule, classes will run seven days a week as early as 6 a.m. and as late as 6:30 p.m. with barre3’s signature childcare available during many classes each week.
