8th annual New Year’s Day Polar Bear Plunge on at Golden Gardens

Posted by Danielle Anthony-Goodwin on December 28th, 2016

The 8th annual New Year’s Polar Bear Plunge is set for 11 a.m., January 1, at Golden Gardens (8498 Seaview Pl NW) where locals can jump start their New Year by taking a dip in the sound!

The event was started by local resident Rick Sandvig after he saw the event become successful in Vancouver, Canada. Just a few dozen people took the plunge in 2009 and every year, the event continues to grow in numbers. Hundreds of people joined in the festivities January 1st, 2014.

Watch footage of 2014’s plunge to get a taste of what you’re in for.
