What’s on this weekend

It’s a big weekend in Ballard, with the first-ever Shilshole Boatfest, Sloop’s 65th birthday, and the annual Ballard Criterium bike race. Enjoy!

Friday, June 9

  • Ballard High School’s ‘Battle in Ballard’ basketball tournament. BHS basketball’s primary fundraiser for the year, the Battle in Ballard brings together 20 teams from around the northwest for a weekend full of basketball. Games on Friday start at 4:30 pm at BHS gym. Tickets $5 for adults, $3 for students.
  • Live Music
    • The Requisite, Moneta, Joyfield, Moments at Sunset Tavern (5433 Ballard Ave NW) at 9pm, $10.
    • Canals of Venice, Chris Acker, and Gus Clark and The Least of His Problems at Conor Byrne Pub (5140 Ballard Ave NW)  at 9pm, $8.

Saturday, June 10

  • Shilshole Boatfest at Shilshole Marina, free boat rides and lessons, family fun, beer and wine garden, and live music, 11am to 4pm.
  • Ballard Criterium bike race in Old Ballard. Course uses Ballard Ave NW, NW Dock Place, Shilshole Ave NW and NW Vernon Place. Races start at 2 pm, and the streets of the course will be closed from 12 – 9 pm.
  • Sloop Tavern’s 65th Birthday, noon till late. Drink specials, giveaways, and live music.

    •  7th Annual Bruce Cockburn Tribute – with Rob Kneisler, Sonny Bill Glover, Greg Hendrickson, Kevin Jones, Robin McGillveray ($10 donation, 7pm) Mark Christian Miller ($10, 9pm) at Egan’s Ballard Jam House (1707 NW Market St).

Sunday June 11

  • Ballard Farmer’s Market along Ballard Ave from 10am – 3pm.
  • Sunday Morning Meditation at Amazing Grace Spiritual Center (2007 NW 61st St) from 10am – 10:20am.
