Ballard home burglarized while resident was inside

A man in Ballard had $1900 cash stolen while he was in his home near 7th Ave NW and NW 70th St.

Masood Ali-Husein tells My Ballard that he arrived at his home at 8:15pm, and rushed inside to use the bathroom, leaving the front door to his house open. While in the bathroom, he heard the screen door bang shut. When he ran out, he saw a woman in her early 30s run into a blue car. He realized the woman had taken an envelope containing $1900 cash, which he had withdrawn earlier that day to pay his rent.

Ali-Husein called police to report the incident, but officers were unable to find a match for the plate number he gave them.

“It was really random and bizarre. It’s not like they followed me all day long as the bank I visited was on the Eastside in Bellevue much earlier in the day,” Ali-Husein said. “People are getting bold and walking into random houses.”
