Flags are probably our oldest form of communication at a distance. Please join us for the Ballard Night Out on Thursday, July 19, 6-9PM to view the “Flags” exhibit of visual communications.

Flags mark locations. They signal from mountain tops or battlements. Semaphores send messages by holding two flags in certain positions. Some species of Iris are called flags and the fleur-de-lis symbol once used on the French flag is stylized iris blossom. Many animals raise their tails and wave them to communicate, such as a happy dog. What other flags can you think of?

Three floors of art studios and exhibition spaces open for the Art Walk Thursday, July 19th, 2018. Open 6:00-9:00 pm only. Open houses at several of the 20 BallardWorks studios offer a chance to talk to the artists and see their oeuvre. Families with kids, art lovers, collectors, and neighbors are welcome.
