Beatrice Lawrence, Associate Professor of Hebrew Bible at Seattle University, will present a fascinating look at stories in the Hebrew Bible involving acts of sexual violence through the lens of the #MeToo movement. A central element of the #MeToo movement is naming the lived experience of those who have been victims of assault and abuse, as well as the need to hold perpetrators accountable. From this perspective, what sense can we make of these Bible stories, and the lessons they are supposed to teach?
