Off The Beaten Path Wine Regions Within the Loire Valley

January 13, 2018 @ 11:00 am - 5:00 pm

Some regions in the Loire get all the attention. Today, we’re going to feature wines from areas that are a little less traveled. Diamonds in the rough, so to speak.

Here are just two examples of what we’ll be showcasing on Saturday.

Reuilly: located in the eastern Loire, and once thought to be the “poor man’s Sancerre.” We’ll be tasting Denis Jamain’s Reuilly Pierre Plates, and experiencing a real renaissance of the region. 100% Sauvignon Blanc from Chablis-like soils full of chalk, fossils, and seashells.

Côte Roannaise: one of the Loire Valey’s southernmost areas sharing many characteristics with Beaujolais to the East, varietal (Gamay), soil (granite), climate (continental). We’ll be showing Domaine Serol’s Petillant Rosé, made from Gamay St. Romain, and made méthode ancestral with indigenous yeasts. Domaine Serol is a 5th generation family estate, dedicated to isolating the best terroirs to reveal their unique identities on hillside slopes.
