Went for a bike ride with friends this am, worked on restoring old bikes in pm, visited mother in law, cooked Julia Child chicken with port and mushies for dinner. Watching Seahawks on Tivo now.

Did early morning laundry, went to Hellevue for about an hour, home and off to Sunday Market, nice mid-afternoon walk to GG, and now home getting ready for the week...and its gonna be a long 'un.

How come I'm always rushing around on Sunday nights trying to get ready for the week? Anyone else do that?

Took the dog over to the south bluff at Discovery Park late this afternoon. Put her on the long lead and ran into the brush with her so she could get primal in the last bright light of the day. Tall grass, tall shadows, flushing birds and mice. Tired dog, good dog.

had that "recovering from a brutal week" daze, felt like I should do something productive, but could not think of what that may be, much less rally. Not even basic laundry was done. Tomorrow starts the worst week in environmental ed history, 7 classes in a row with what very well may be the worst school in King County. So help me god, I will reach those kids.

Ballardgirl & Pennygirl: If you want to keep the geraniums over a cold winter, you can pull them up and hang them upside down in a dry place. That leads me to wonder if daliahs should be hung upside down also.

malia: I haven't heard of Pacific Iron's Salvage Yard, but I will HAVE to visit. I see some interesting projects in my future!

I went to the market for honey and flowers then sat outside Starbucks having a very nice chat with someone. Came home and repotted about 10 plants to get the ready to bring indoors. Took a nap, ate some yummy chicken, spinach & quinoa leftovers. I'm now thinking about heating up some of the Honey Crisp Cider I bought today and adding some cognac.

Cut back bamboo, the hops vine, which was threatening to take over the back fence, weeded, pruned, blew leaves around. Supervised Silas who planted 100 daffs, plus some iris. So pleasant to be in the beautiful day, and get so much accomplished. A childhood friend walked past, had a nice visit. We hadn't seen one another for at least 20 years. Amazingly, he recognized me.
Ballardgirl, I use bamboo poles to make teepees for vesgies, dahlias, etc. If they are long and nice, I also use them as curtain rods, towel holders, et.
Put some Got Soup's broccoli soup in crockpot, just ate it, nummy. Great day!

I had early Sunday football happiness! We ate some garlicky artichoke-spinach dip during the game, then I took advantage of the triple-points coupon at Fred Meyer. Came home, did some laundry, then made butternut squash soup with croutons...and even more garlic. Tonight, since there's a Giants fan in the household, we're watching the baseball game.

If only garlic would protect us from political commercials, then we'd be all set.

The pugs and I took a nice morning walk in the sun, then watched the GREAT Seahawks game at a friends house, then ran a few errands, then hit up the Ballard Farmers Market and bought fresh clams (was hoping for oysters but they were sold out), then stopped by the store, then came home and mowed the lawn, and now am enjoying a glass of vino while I wait for the water to boil for the clams. All in all, a very enjoyable Sunday! :)

Hi I am Noe Villarreal, and this Summer I will be going to the Dominican Republic to work in a small community called La Ceiba. I will be working alongside the organization PLAN International, and will be teaching kids and adults about certain health risks and how to prevent them. These health risks include diseases like H1N1, Malaria, and Dengue. Currently I am trying to raise as much money as I can to buy supplies for these lessons, and also enough to buy supplies to do a community project. I am wiling to babysit, mow lawns, pick weeds, clean houses, ANYTHING to raise enough money. If you are interested please email me at noeknows@gmail.com or call me at 360-649-0999, and we'll see what we can do!

I am a licensed general contractor, and live in Ballard. My partner and I have over 20 years experience in the building trades, and are excellent finish carpenters. You can see some samples of our work at www.krollmcgovern.com. I think you'll find we provide terrific value and impeccable work. My contact information is on our website! We do appreciate the efforts to shop locally. My wife and I are on the same program. Thank you for taking the time to consider us.

trying to support locally but wasn't sure where to turn to find a carpenter.

I want a mantel built for my fireplace, but I have no handiwork skills, nor the tools, interest or time to do so.

So can anyone recommend a good carpenter? I didn't want a simple store bought mantel (ikea, etc), maybe someone with a creative bone.

Weekend of February 19th - 21st COST: $79!

Because of the present financial situation, there has never been a more significant time to look at the issues of work and career - - how to find ways to do what you genuinely enjoy and also sustain yourself financially. And amazingly, never before have there been such opportunities for you to move in that direction!

This Workshop helps you resolve these issues through four inquiries: How can I discover what fulfills me? How do I translate what I enjoy into real marketplace opportunities?
Subhan Schenker, J.D., R.C., facilitates this workshop. He is a lawyer who left a successful practice to pursue what he really loved. He has offered this workshop in the US, India, Europe, and Asia for 22 years. He has had extensive experience in law, business, meditation, and the personal awareness movement for over 30 years. He has also shared this workshop with 100’s of people for 12 years at North Seattle Community College.
