erryn77's post +1.
Regarding a decent and reasonable place to workout, Ballard Health Club gets my vote.

"So many complaints from so many people about the Ballard LAF, and everyone says the place is dirty. Seems like it's a problem. "

Never been, but we know people who bailed due to having the above experience, in addition to elevators not working (brand new), broken equipment, and no 24 hour access. So they tell us. They decided to go elsewhere.

On OAC, there is a large remodel in the works. Not sure, but the commercial loan market collapse may have dragged this out, but the plan's definitely in the works. The remodel might not be very fun (think Big Dig), but when finished will expand OAC quite a bit.

Erryn77 -- that post is awesome. As is the site plasticbags linked. Everyone should have to do a stint behind a counter or wearing an apron; gives you a different perspective on the rest of humanity, not to mention a load of funny stories.

Which is not to say I disagree with the idea that the customer should at least be listened to, nor that LA Fitness is being short-sighted in this case. But I like OAC anyway.

Interesting. I was a satisfied client at the Ballard la, and recently, due to peer pressure from the hubs and his workout partner, switched to OAC. I must say, la always seemed way cleaner than OAC does. I never felt weird about showering there. But I cannot stand the locker room at OAC. It is way too small, and never seems clean. Could be that there is carpet that is at least 20 years old in there. Come on, CARPET!!! Gross! I will say that there is a nice vibe to the place... But they are in serious need of a remodel.

Even though I'm on the do-not-call list, I got a sales phone call from them this week. Maybe I'll go yelp my annoyance...

Ok, Here goes...It infuriates me that this gym refused to provide any remote idea of sanitary spray for equipment you want to clean..thus encouraging people to move on without cleaning, as we all would in any other gym on the planet..their excuse.."too many people spray the tvs on the cardio equipment. What....germs? I'll make you a few copies of signs saying, "don't spray the equipment, spray the towel, wipe the machine."

My last gripe is with the other so called "corporate policy" of no air circulating fans in the classrooms. Really, then what up with the old tired fan a client pulled out of their basement as a token in cycling, isn't that a fan and against policy..I thought you were professionals! I've never seen one sales person taking class- therefore- don't tell me it isn't too hot.

Please explain that to the miserable sweaty, germ covered folks walking over to another gym in Ballard...oh and to all the other LA Fitness who have air fans & sanitizer everywhere!!!!

Last word..sianara

And when we are all gone, remember this phrase...the customer is always right.

Signed, New Member OAC
