I have a Kenmore (Sears) range that needs minor repair. Would like a recommendation for a local independent appliance repair person that works on Kenmore. I've used Sears Home Services (or whatever they call themselves now) and will never darken their door again.

That is too bad, I have had excellent service from Sears.
Is the range gas or electric?

It's electric. I wish I had checked Yelp/Angie's list, etc. before using Sears Home Services. They certainly lived down to their cyber-reputation.

I do not have an electric stove, but I do use Service Magic for finding repair folks, it is a free service and I have had good luck with them.
Is this repair someting you could do yourself? Most appliances are fairly simple to fix ?

This involves replacing an electrical switch and I'm skeered of electricity. Plus just not very handy in general. I'll look into Service Magic - thanks!

Google Mark Wiseman for his contact info. He has serviced both my stove and fridge. He is through, fair, detail oriented, clean. Really could go on and can't say enough great things about him. Good luck.

+1 on Mark Wiseman. He is the best -- very, very fair in his charges, too. Here is his page on yelp: http://www.yelp.com/biz/mark-wiseman-appliance-service-seattle-2

Oh, and you don't need anyone special for Kenmore appliances. They are made by major manufacturers for Sears -- Frigidaire, Whirlpool, etc.
