Growing up in Buffalo I was always a huge Seahawks fan. I would always take road trips to see them when they played in the NorthEast. In the early 90's I decided to come out to Seattle to see them play at home. I spent over a week out here and fell in love with the Seattle area. I started researching Western Washington and decided to give it a shot. I moved out here February 1997 and have never wanted to leave.

    Buffalo + Seahawks = BuffaloHawk

    nice topic Buff!

funny that it would be the football team of all things to entice your move (especially with the Bills coming off that awesome run of four Superbowl appearances).

most people see my username and probably assume I'm some arrogant jerk.

I actually concocted my username as direct respose to a post that I thought was ridiculous. the "great idea" was meant as a sarcastic reply to some hare-brained idea someone had.

so the truth is I'm not arrogant. just a jerk.

GI.. Imagine if we could change our username whenever we wanted to especially in some of the heated threads. That would be EPIC
My parents have a bar back in Buffalo and I would wear my Seahawks clothes when bartending sometimes. My poor father would get so irritated and tell me I was born in Buffalo and I am supposed to be a Bills fan.

Love the Specials. The song Ghost Town rings in my head at the office at 4:55pm on a Friday...

Panda has been a rhyming nickname and the Bur part is from a friend saying Bur instead of Bear. Simple :)

My initials are A.P. I was a butcher for a few years after college and one of my co-workers altered my butcher's coat by expanding my initials. He had gone to the U of Colorado, where the student union had a cafeteria named "Alferd G. Packer Memorial Grill" whose slogan was "Have a friend for lunch."

    FWIW, I'm male. Duh!

i *LOVE* the science behind all living things, from the simplest individual organisms to the most complex ecological systems, ultimately resulting in what you could call one Earthly organism. 1987 is the year I moved to the US, and thus started my life over.

I am female, but because I originate from a male-driven country and really was oppressed, I often resent being a girl. I often think and act like a male, which has confused fellow forumites.

BH, from Honduras. I really didn't know or care where I'd end up in the US, and lived in Texas briefly first (only two flights leaving Honduras back then: your choices were Houston or Miami), then to LA for a loooong time. Wound up in Seattle for grad school, and have often wished I had discovered it sooner. I truly love it here.

Cougar Bob was inspired by the real life Cougar Bill who lived on the Oregon coast up the Nehalem River.

Many noted the irony of converting the former homestead - named for "Cougar Bill" and "Cougar Marie," who made their living shooting the big cats and didn't cotton to trespassers - into a public park. Said Nehalem Mayor Shirley Kalkhoven: "Cougar Bill would meet you at the property with a shotgun."

<--- Because I am. From the office window, I can see about 10 commercial boats, three big ships, and the golf-ball-on-a-plate that's at Todd Shipyard (excuse me, Vigor Seattle) for a few months. The photo was one a co-worker shot through the office window. Surprisingly, you see seagulls taking on starfish pretty often out on the waterfront.

Until our office moved down here, I didn't know gulls ate starfish either. It's a sort of horrifying process that I won't subject you to unless you ask.

See, if the seagulls had any sense, all they'd do would be to pick a couple of the legs off and toss the starfish back. That way it would be able to grow a couple more and provide more food for the seagull community :-)

During pilot training my grandfather buzzed some cattle that ran into a barn killing some of them, which led to a call to the base commander earning my gramps the nickname Buzz. The P-47 is the plane he flew in WWII. My grandpa passed in early 2009 and I was really missing him when I created this profile.
