The ballot drop box at the Ballard library was featured tonight in a KOMO news story about the tunnel referendum. And, Wilderness Barbie made an appearance and was interviewed! Out of the shadows she steps! Coo!

And you know who Wilderness Barbie is how? You've been a member here for two weeks, were you lurking before? Some things are best to just let lie.

Cate, I find it kind of creepy and imo it's just another incarnation of the same person. I also feel it's 100% wrong to call out the real identity of a forum member unless that member is ok with it. Kinda stalkerish, definitely uncalled for.

Oh tegyr, I agree with you - it is creepy and stalkerish. I hope I didn't sound like I was encouraging him.

Stalkerish? Preposterous. I am just an observant pigeon. She chooses to comment on the new front page stories. As a result her facebook (minus full privacy enabled, her choice) is left open for anyone to link to directly, and "wilderness barbie" is prominently displayed on her facebook page. Then I recognized her mug/name when it popped up on television and the connection was made, quite simple really.

You don't have to agree with a member ousting, but if people want to remain anonymous they should be more aware of this sort of thing and be proactive about making sure they really are. So yes, probably uncalled for, but no, certainly not stalkerish. She provided the connection herself for anyone to see for God's sake.

    Bonne nuit everyone!

Well since this is entitled election story - 60% pro tunnel! I didn't see that coming. Thought it would be much closer.

I thought the pigeon was Wilderness Barbie?

tooting her own horn, er, beak rather.

  10. Even if it had been voted down it would just end up drawing out he inevitable and costing more money. They're going to build the thing one way or another, that much is obvious. "Unstable fill dirt or no, baby we're a go!"

The tunnel vote would have been much closer, I believe, if most of the 80% of registered voters that didn't bother to vote had actually voted.

It is disturbing, to say the least, that more folks can't be bothered to vote.

And, enter BR, "We get the representation we deserve". Well, you are correct.

Absenteeism, from top to bottom. Good on ya Seattle.

The purpose and wording of the tunnel vote was vague. The rest of the measures on the ballot were of the who-gives-a-crap variety. I voted. But I can sympathize with those who chose not to doing anything with their ballot. It might not have been worth the cost of a stamp.

In regards to the result... whatever. The tunnel could be a financial disaster and it could be an awesome boon for the city. Of course, there are so many cooks in this city's kitchen, maybe there's still time for another delay. If they actually start a project of this magnitude without another vote, I'll be impressed.

@ BG, I certainly don't want to think you are referring to me. I still get a little squeamish seeing my name in print after writing for all these years. I usually don't even read the published versions.
