Hmm... second person posting their reference link to the Whole Foods LivingSocial Deal and trying to get enough people to buy through that link to get the deal for free.

Yup. Living Social is counting on peoples greed to promote their product. It's working.

Can we get a ban on these posts?
    Isn't it close to spam?

It's in the Classified section; I don't see any problem with it.

Kind of it is. esp if you look at the people posting and their other topics started. It's almost like a part time job.

Mondo, true. Look at the Fremont blog though, it is pretty much all people hawking Living Social-esque type things along with various spammy generic classified posts. What makes this one different is the fact that those types of posts are either kept at a minimum or people have enough class not to do it. THIS forum can be interesting, the others aren't. You're absolutely right about going to open instead of all though...but then what could I complain about? :)

Ah Oneder, my internal complaining is still with Doug11. Besides, the kitty is too cute to do anything other than want to scratch him/her under the chin.

Allison, wouldn't making Whole Foods sell $20 of stuff for $10 actually hurt them financially?

These posts are no more spam than someone sharing the grocery outlet deals of the day. Apparently, it is only offensive if you are spending you money on something other than yesterday's garbage.

SG, the GO deal sharing didn't benefit the poster unless they did it to intentionally annoy you :) It's probably my low tolerance for stuff but I despise those "look, what a great deal. Click on the link, enjoy!" posts that are only there to benefit the poster financially. If you look at the submitters of these things, generally the majority of their posts are related to whatever Living Social or Groupon or whoever has an appropriate deal of the day. It gets old.

I hate groupon. Groupon is 100x worse than this because they've convinced people you KNOW to send you coupon deals. Amazing feat really.

I don't mind people sharing a deal if they find a good one. I've done it. I just make sure to put the link to the main deal site so people can use the deal without providing a kickback. Problem solved. I don't hate Groupon and the other sites -- too many great deals on places I already love or have been wanting to try. A couple restaurants it took a Groupon to get me there but now they are in my regular eating out rotation.

It is icky to use people's friendship connections for marketing purposes, even made-up "connections" like a post to a forum that you only post to for the purpose of getting people to click through so you get your deal for free. It astounds me that people are willing to sell that kind of thing for $10-20.

Angeline, that's a good way to put it. I wasn't sure where that line was or how to define it. I've also told friends if there is somewhere we like (or have wanted to try) on Living Social etal. I've never promoted it through Facebook or a forum. I guess that a) I'd feel bad getting a kickback on it and b) I think my friends would stop listening if I did overkill on the super deals. It's ingenious marketing and free advertising for the sites (who make a LOT on selling those vouchers) and it's obvious, to me at least, that there are people who don't mind a bit prostituting themselves with it.

I hate it when people put their link up on here.

That being said, this is one of the few living socials that I actually bought. Seeing how I don't need botox which is about every day from them, there is no restriction on alcohol on this. Free $10 of beer here I come!

I put one up here once with my referral link and enough people bought it that mine was free. I think it was the Root Table one. I disclosed that I get a referral though because I think it's dishonest not to.

All the OP needs to do is state that they are getting a referral fee/benefit from the traffic through the link and I think its fine. Just be straight up about it.

hmm... guess i'm more popular than the other post since i got tons of responses and the other only had one.

sorry for re-posting the deal, but i don't sit in the forums all day everyday checking what's been posted or not and the other post seems to have been from 2 days ago so i didn't see it. i just thought i'd share since it's a pretty good deal IMO. i do agree that i should have said that if 3 people used my link, i'd get it free... so i apologize for neglecting the fact. i didn't get it free anyway since most people are smart enough to just go to the site directly rather than using links for internet safety's sake. at least that's what i do.

anyway, my apologies and thanks for the input and teaching me the DOs and DON'Ts.
