Thank you for your hopeful message.
We will keep eyes out though not too near to you - she looks so much like one of my cats! Hope she wanders back home soon.
As usual, suggest looking in neighbor's garages, basements, sheds, your garages, etc. She could have very easily gone in there and got locked in. Happened to mine in the past. Also had one treed by a dog & didn't know it until I happened to stop by this tree and say his name. Then heard way up this tiny little meow. Ask kids in the neighborhood. And if she doesn't show up soon, posters are always a good idea, local vets, even posters like at Petco and Petsmart with a picture. Best of luck.
Hi everyone -
My cat Molly is still missing.
She was last seen on Tuesday, Oct 18 at 53rd street and 15th street NW in Ballard.
She is a short haired grey tabby cat. Molly has green eyes and white and tan fur around her mouth. She has an M-shape on her forehead.
Molly is friendly, but may be a little skittish from being outside so long. If you see her please try to capture her and/or contact me.
Thank you.

In searching for my lost cat, I came across this one that seems to be lost. :( It is a young cat that has been living in a shed near 15th Ave and 53rd Street NW.
The cat seems pretty hungry but healthy. I have been feeding it and giving it water.
This cat does not seem to be a stray; it is very clean and friendly.
Please contact me.

Thanks.
Sorry your cat is not home yet. In my experience, if a cat is being fed, there is less of a chance it will go home. One of my cats remained out and near a house down the road. When I learned where he was, I found out the woman, whose 6 cats were all indoor cats, was feeding my guy. After pleading with her on several days, she finally stopped and he came home 2 days later. She really believed she was doing right by him. In 13 years, that was the only time he ever stayed out.
It may be tough for you to stop feeding this cat, but please think about it.
Unless the cat has no home or the cat is lost. Our cats don't go out, granted, but if one were to be out I would hope somebody would feed him/her and then take him/her to get his/her chip scanned. My priority is them being alive first and then home second. If a cat is starving, odds are he/she isn't just out wandering.
abatchu, best of luck with your cat. They tend not to stray too far from the perimeter of their house, so I hear. When one of ours got out once, what helped was a scent she recognized near an open window so she could jump in. She waited until the middle of the night to do it but I think she was really scared. Thanks for helping the other cat too. Might be worth checking if the cat is chipped. There are SO many lost cats lately, hopefully this one will be able to go home.
Can someone explain how I got an automated lost cat call regarding Molly?
Came in on home land line on Sat (I think)
Very weird.
I do hope your cat returns, just don't understand how I ended up with that call....
Maybe we have the same vet??
Hi there,
I will take the hungry cat to see if it has a microchip this weekend. I just wanted to see if anyone was looking for her first.
It is hard to not feed this lil' guy. I think of my Molly out there....I would want someone to feed her. But I have wondered about how feeding her could deter her from going home.
Gilman girl- you received the call because I enlisted in a service to notify neighbors of my lost Molly. Findtoto.com
Thanks for keeping the conversation going. I appreciate all of the hope you are sending my way.
Thanks abatchu, I've never seen that site.
Are you west of 15th or east on 53rd?
Not sure how effective the site is. But I we had to give it a try.
We are west of 15th. Most likely our cat would not have crossed 15th.
But you never know. At night if she was scared she could easily sprint across the way.
Where are you about?
East of 15th.
I thought you might be west, not to many abodes on the east side on 53rd.
Your cat looks alot like mine, I hope she didn't cross 15th.
I will keep my eye out for you.
I hope your girl is found!!!
abatchu - Were one of my little girls lost, I would hope someone like you you would find them and feed them. Feeding hungry animals is a good thing.
Thanks Cate.
Keep a look out for me.
Abatchu, I think your kitty may be at the Phinney Ridge Animal Hospital, because the photo in the post of the 'found' kitty looks like it is in a cage of some sort. Good luck and keep us posted!
Aunt Salad - That kitty is not our kitty.
But you are very sweet! Thank you for your concern and attention.
Nice to know there are so many good people lookin' out for Molly.
She is like our child.
Oh, that is so great! Glad she is home!
Smartsy Artsy - I edited my last post. It wasn't reading the right way.
We ARE still looking for Molly.
Hi everyone,
We found Molly today! She was on 56th and 17th NW, just a few blocks north of our house. She crossed Market street which is a bit scary. Some guy that was getting his oil changed on 15th walked down 56th and saw the poster and saw Molly on an abandoned house-porch and called us!
She is now home safe in our bed.
Thank you for the support.
My advice to someone who loses a pet: stay optimistic and post fliers further away than you would think.
Fantastic news! And good advice - we got a cat back after several days because someone saw a flyer and called us. Treats for Molly after her Big Adventure!
Yay! So happy for her safe return - whatever happened with the little one you found, just out of curiousity ;o)
I just got back from the vet with the little one. She is not microchipped.
I am starting the search for a good home for Hungry Kitty.
Please contact me if you are looking for a young, friendly beautiful kitty.
Here is her craigslist posting:

man, she's not going to last long if she gets in the habbit of crossing 15th. Time to start thinking about making Molly an Indoor cat. I know it can be tough especially if a cat gets used to the outdoors, but it will be in her best interests, really.
Yea! I am so happy to see this wonderful news! Kiss her pretty head for me!
Now I can definitely say...
Oh, that is so great! Glad she is home!

Oh, that's happy kitty news! I'm so glad Molly's home safe and sound! What a relief for you, too, abatchu! >^..^<
What great news!
Great news! Thanks for letting us know and have a great Halloween together!
Are you sure that little one is truly lost? Looks pretty healthy and absolutely adorable in the pictures. About a year ago there was a "lost" cat a MyBallard person was feeding and people here helped her with food, protection from the elements, etc - only to find out the little bugger lived across the street. Was coming over to her house to get more food.
So happy to hear Molly is home safe!
Gracie, we actually have a situation like that on my block. We've had two cats hanging out near my place for the last month, recently one disappeared and the other started looking thin and since we hadn't been able to locate an owner we started to feed it regularly, take it in while we looked for the owner. Turns out it literally lives behind me. The owner had taken the one cat in and for some reason left this one outside. Though I was glad to hear it had a home, it's kinda frustrating and still spends most of it's time outside my place.
Uisiagi - that poor thin kitty does not truly have a home. They deserve better than someone who won't "take it in". Give me a break. I would suggest that unless you can give this kitty a good home or find them a good home, that you take them to a shelter so they can rehome him/her. Thank you for caring about this poor little thing and please don't stop feeding them until they get a decent place to live. I worry especially now that the weather is getting cold and wet :-(
abatchu... Here's something else to consider since your cat was found across Market Street. I've read stories here on this forum saying how people have seen older kids picking up other people's cats, walking off with them and dropping them off in other areas.
I suppose it's possible that could've been what happened to your cat and she was just too scared to cross back across Market Street or just didn't know where to go. Whether she crossed on her own or not, it's a scary thought knowing a cat is out wandering around anywhere near 15th Ave or Market Street. Like I said before, I'm so glad Molly's back home... =^..^=
Uisiagi, Pdaddymom is right. I have a stray that I took in around 10 years ago. She was left outside while her kittens were taken inside. When I took her in I was told that it was their "outside cat" though she was always starving and would be huddling against my door when it was cold out. I ended up boarding her because I was going on vacation for a few weeks and was concerned about her getting food/shelter. After I got back, I decided she didn't have a home and she ended up with me and eventually moved up to WA with me.
She has a lot of problems, probably due to her harsh life before. She is the sweetest cat though...so please do what is right for this one.
I sadly can't take him in myself as I already have three, one being a recent addition do to abandonment and an owner who refused to come get her (I seriously don't get people). I did look into re-homing/taking him to a shelter, but was warned that if I knew there was an owner it would be considered stealing and I could face charges and that if I was concerned for the cat I should call and report an animal abuse/neglect case. I was also informed that if i wanted to keep/re-home the cat that I had to prove that I had been trying to return it to it's owner for 30 days. At this point I wish I'd just kept my mouth shut and done it, but now I'm on record inquiring. I had thought about having someone else take him in so they can honestly say they don't know the owner, but he didn't show up to my house last night. At this point I'm just going to keep an eye out for him and help him where I can.
Sounds like the owners wouldn't even know if the cat was missing or not - new home or not. I just don't get people. There is a neighbor who has two cats that are outside 24/7. Another neighbor has their dog out in the back 24/7 with no interaction. I felt so bad for them last winter out in that harsh weather. Why even have a pet if that's how they are going to be treated. Really makes me angry.
I don't get it either Gracie. My most recent addition literally leaped into my husbands arms when we were walking home one day scared to death and starving. She had tags so I figured it would be a simple call the owner and they would come get their kitty. I tried for two months with the owner refusing to return my calls and eventually answering to say the couldn't be bothered and to stop calling. It absolutely boggled me. She's been a wonderful addition to our home though and we couldn't be happier and she seems to be happy as well.
Uisiagi - that breaks my heart. That poor little thing but thankfully she jumped into the right arms! What a bunch of jerks. I'll never understand. When my cat was lost I searched every day, walking/driving around many blocks, had posters, flyers and I was heartbroken and after nine days he was found. And I would never leave a cat outside at night. Too many critters out there that could harm them - and not to mention cars.
Hi Everyone,
Just wanted to let you know that we found a good home for Hungry Kitty.
Through our post on craigslist, this nice couple from Bothell contacted us and were very interested in meeting Hungry Kitty. Turns out that their cat had passed away in July after 21 years. They were ready for a new cat and fell in love with Hungry Kitty immediately. The best part is that they have 2 full acres for her to run around on, plus the warmth of a nice home to live in.
I know there are a lot of kitties out there looking for a home, we are happy that we could help out just one of those lil' guys.
Lots of good news in this thread. I'm so glad Molly is home.
As far as thinking a cat is a stray but not knowing - I knew someone that came up with a good solution: she put up posters of the cat saying "Is this cat yours?" with the phone number because she was going to take it to the shelter. She did get a response and it belonged to a loving home. He just liked having lots of places to visit. (I know indoor cats are safer but this isn't her cat and he is loved and healthy)
I'm so glad you found a home for hungry kitty.
Just a reminder to all from my days as an animal volunteer: If you're looking for a home for a pet, it is sometimes good to ask for a small re-homing fee to guard against those that pick up free animals and sell them to the private and university laboratories. People can be very convincing when conning you, bringing kids to make it look legit.
Hungry Kitties new family sounds great though. I'm very happy for him! And for Molly!
And Gracie, Please call in the animal control to talk to the owner of the dog (I don't know if they'll do anything about the cats but you could try that as well). Sometimes they will surrender them in these situations or maybe, if the weather is harsh enough the animal control will take them.
life..they claim they "love" their cats and don't consider it abusive to leave them outside 365 24/7.
