Hi all. I have a vintage Modern Maid cooktop that was previously working perfectly and suddenly stoppped. Want to drop it off for diagnostics but having a hard time finding a repair shop that doesn't seem like a used car sales situation.

Hoping to find a good old-fashioned mom-n-pop type shop.

Anybody have any recommendations? Thank you!

Hey Shannon, a while back someone posted about appliance repair and a couple people mentioned the same person as being quality. Here is that thread:

I was one of those. I love this guy. The first time I tried to use him we ended up repairing the item ourselves using his phone coaching -- no charge! My previous post:

+1 on Mark Wiseman. He is the best -- very, very fair in his charges, too. Here is his page on yelp: http://www.yelp.com/biz/mark-wiseman-appliance-service-seattle-2

Thanks for the recommendations, all! I dropped it at Discount Appliance, and the people there were nice. But I'll put your rec's in my "rolodex" for future reference!
