We have the opportunity to take a 10 day vacation. We will go later this week. We moved to WA three years ago, but haven't had the chance to travel much outside Seattle metro.

Is there a vacation cabin broker you would recommend? I don't have much time to research cabins.

    - We want to rent a comfortable cabin where we can settle in and cook our own meals.
    - Two adults and an elderly dog.
    - Need to be within 1.5 hours drive to Seattle.
    - Quiet and private.
    - Don't care about winter sports or kayaking. We like easy walks and beaches.
    - Near a town with cafe and fax machine.

I've been looking at Whidbey. It seems that Clinton area has the best rates. I would love to be on the west side of Whidbey for the views, but the cabins seem expensive and packed with bunk-beds.

We plan to leave in a couple days. This is last minute! Whee!

Whidbey is a great idea. I'd recommend Langley or Freeland over Clinton. Yes, bunkbeds are rather an epidemic along with "mid century"-minus the modern decor on the island.
There is a great rental that we know of on vrbo called Lagoma Lodge. It's close at the SE tip of Whidbey in an area called Poissession. It's updated but still charming and right on the beach. I'm not sure that you need a broker. We've rented a handful of our own using vrbo without any problem, but if you want some help, there's a business in Freeland called Island Concierge. If you go over a weekend, try to make it to Bayview Farmer's Market on Saturday. There is a gal who cooks amazing African food and the pie lady sells out before noon. I've never made it in time to try her pie.

Another place to consider is perhaps Vashon - the Quartermaster Harbor area in particular.

I have some friends that rented a cabin near Port Townsend and it sounded great. I'll get the information and post in this thread.

sunhillmama, thanks for all the info. I think we will wind up in the Langley or Freeland area.

jburgh, that looks like a great place, and I love Port Townsend.
