The onion is always just a sliver away from the truth. Its a sad commentary in this world that santorum even gets his rancid perspective considered.

Frank Schaeffer offers a great perspective on the modern GOP and the likes of santorum.
    http://frank-schaeffer.blogspot.com/2012/02/how-could-they-believe-this-stuff.html

    Quote:
"So public space is demonized because by its very nature it falls outside of the control of the "mullahs," -- i.e. the pastors and bishops and celebrity religious leaders that are fighting off facts to maintain their control of their flocks. And the government is demonized because it imposes a rule of law over and above the Bible's mandates.

And that is why "They" -- the bedrock supporters of the Republican Party -- do what they do and allow a Santorum to emerge as a serious candidate. The base of the Republican Party don't live here in our world anymore, they have moved to the Bronze Age and like it there."

And just think of how much less traffic there will be once we get rid of all those poor deluded souls! Hate has its privileges.

I think it's cute - quaint even that mere menion of frothy butt sex is taboo on MB but didn't set off the censorship alarms at the Seattle Weekly or Comedy Central.

Maybe the Swedes are Santorum supporters, or maybe they attend Mars Hill!

Somehow I think neither is very likely, so I'm back to cute and quaint.

Mr Savage was indeed savage in his attack on Santorum and if you ask me it couldn't have been aimed at a more deserving person, because rest assured people, Santorum dreams of the day he can savage the people, or at the very least, witness the savage demise of the people his twisted religiosity condemns.

I think that makes him fair game. The thread should not have been deleted becuase Santorum daily says something equally disgusting and much worse.

So what are you Swedes? Prudes or censors, both, already bought and sold, or just plain cowards?

cd - Whats the point here? Why force the swedes into any sort of position on santorum? They have a pretty high tolerance for bs. It's all cool here. Did you have a thread deleted?

Naw no point. If I had my own popular weblog I'd delete threads and users happily. For instance, I'd tell Mars Hill to get stuffed and I'd probably even delete me. Others think they should not be part of the Ballard Chamber becuase of the missing link to no avail.

So I'm back to cute and quaint. The swedes won't tolerate any mention of butt sex. It offends the senses you know.

I am predicting that after tomorrow's Super Tuesday primaries that Santorum will cease to be an issue. And cd, I don't think it is in you to do "cute and quaint."

I think it was the extremely well written description of the frothy butt sex - I had heard the reference and understood the cleverness of creating a new definition from the last name of someone who is opposed to basic human rights, liberty and justice - but I have to say -the pure definition with the frothy part and everything was so visually written - It frankly was very gross.

I read it once and moved on... so I think I did what is expected of us in a free society... I moved on because I didn't like dwelling on the concept of the by-product.

To delete the post was questionable, but my guess is the act of deletion was not a political statement.

the post was about starting a similar web definition for a 'gingrich'
it seemed pretty benign by all accounts, but I don't know what flies in these megachurches.

Well Hello... I just liked typing that by the way... well Hello, you do know that I can't take credit for penning such an apt new defintion for the word santorum. Some nameless contributor submitted it in a contest held by Mr. Savage.

I too thought twice about repeating it. I held my finger over the delete button for several minutes and thought to link to just the page without the offending definition, but therein lies it's effectiveness, and beside, it had already made the rounds of far more influencial news sources than my ballard. I also doubt it is political to delete my little thread. But why pass up an opportunity to poke fun at those who hold the power of deletion.

GI, I really don't think I can surpass it in any way even if I was to consider an almost equally offensive character such as Gingrinch.

My dear Cate, I am as quaint as lamb and as cute as a bug's ear.

Are there any Republican candidates that have not already been defeated or resigned from an elected position? All I hear is ex- Senator, ex- Governor, ex- pectorant, etc, etc...

By gawd OGBC you've hit the nail on the head! A gingrich is that first giant blackish ball of phlegm splatted by a heavy smoker on the sidewalk making you divert your course, heel the dog over sharply and warn the stranger behind you to avoid it.

Old Guy, thats a good point. Within the GOP, there were people who were building good resumes who were defeated a while back. For some reason people don't take a person who lost their seat as seriously as someone who currently holds office.

Of course, Santorum lost PA by like 18 percent, but he has not let that stop himself from making an a*s of himself.

See what the GOP really needs is a white male governor or senator from a southern state, and they don't have that right now.

George Allen's narrow defeat in Va a while back was a big loss for them. Had he not lost, he might have run against McCain, or maybe waited until now.

While never defeated, Jebb Bush is someone who is similar, but its going to be a long time before someone hears the word Bush without feeling total pain.

Even though he still holds office, Lindsey Graham's political skills are as good as Bill Clinton's. He would be a very formidable opponent, but as such he was smart enough to stay on the sidelines. I don't think anyone who most people would consider a serious candidate wants to run in the schism between the GOP grassroots and their Washington elite, especially when they expect to face someone as strong as Obama.
