Our Postal Person has lied about our dog and the neighbors stopping our mail deliver forcing us to relocate our mailboxes. When we went to the Post Office about the situation we were told “They” "The Post Office" have to support their Personal and why would they lie. After talking to other people in the neighborhood we have found that there have been other complaints about this same deliver person. Also that a petition was made and sent to the post office to have this person reassigned to no avail. I have tried in the past to talk to this Postal Employee with responce.

You have my sympathies. We used to have a carrier who was hated dogs, and our dog who loved pretty much everyone including other mail carriers hated him right back. We ended up having to move our mailbox to the curb and were lucky to keep getting service at all.

I don't really understand what is happening to you. You have moved the mailboxes and the carrier is still refusing to deliver? Is your dog out in the yard at all during the day?

In our case, yeah, we were outside in our front yard with the dog off leash. Twice. So we were wrong, even though I feel the carrier overreacted to a little barking. But moving the boxes solved the problem.

Your Question: Is your dog out in the yard at all during the day?
The front of our property has no yard and dog is only in back which is fenced and no were near the mail boxes.

Still waiting to have service restarted hope it is today after moving boxes to sidewalk.
In the past postal carrier informed one of our tennets that we had to clean our gutters and tream our trees or she would stop delivery.
Then carrier saw our dog and that was it no service, she clamed the dog charged her which was BS.
Had service restarted after signing papers saying dog would never be free.
Then postal carrier started complaning about screen door being in the way and started slammimg it if it was open.
At other times carrier would just toss mail on porch or in garden next to porch.
Then last Saturday carrier clamed that tennets dog was off leash and stop delivering again,
Only problem was that tennet was not home at the time that carrier made claim.
To top this off we were out last night and found that this same carrier has had petitions gathered by neighbors north of us because of similar problem. But because of seniority they were unable to have carrier replaced.
I have tried in the past to talk to the carrier but that was a wast of my time and that was before the complants started.

My sympathies too. Our mail carrier threatened to suspend delivery to us too because our dog was off leash with us in the front yard while gardening on a Saturday. I killed that notion with kindness, but I can't wait until they stop delivering mail on Saturdays all together. Who needs it!

It's a workplace safety issue and your property isn't considered safe by your postal carrier. This happened to me (he was afraid of my dog). I had to go to the post office to get my mail until I moved the mailbox to the sidewalk. They have to deliver your mail if the mail box is accessible to a public street or sidewalk.

Well if there really are petitions about this single employee making stuff up in your neighborhood, write and call your congressman. But given what you've said about your interaction with the post office, I suspect you have further channels to pursue before you need to go that route.

Start here and poke around. Maybe make a call for information purposes just to see what office you need to speak with, and what can be done.

Still whenever I disagree with a federal employee, I find the best remedy is to go online under an alias, call them a liar and post subsequent rantings. Nothing establishes credibility faster.

Our carrier used to park across our driveway and would not move even when asked. So, I spoke with a friend of mine who's a carrier down in Tacoma, and she told me to go to usps.com, and file an online complaint. Several people far higher up than the manager of the local PO see the complaint and the manager has to respond to you in 24 hours. Unlike the manager, the national USPS believes that the customer is always right. In my case, the manager called, assured me it wouldn't happen again, and asked me to call him personally if I had further trouble. Of course, if I do, I'll go back to USPS online instead. It gets much quicker action. And get your neighbors to do the same.

Hope you'll post again and let us know how it turns out.

Mr. "Ketcher", Do you not have SPELL CHECK? Good grief, it's difficult to understand.

    OK, what KIND of dog?

I'm a confirmed dog lover, who had a giant German Shepherd. One mail carrier wouldn't deliver if he was outside. Okey dokey. SO WE KEPT HIM INDOORS ON SATURDAY until the mail carrier left. See how easy? We had another mail carrier who adored him and plied him with dog cookies.

It's also the mail carrier's right not to be savaged by someone's dog.

While it seems that the PO worker might not be working with a full mail pouch, from my experience as a runner/biker of over 30 years, dog owners generally have not had the experience of a dog suddenly tearing towards them with their jaws wide open. Otherwise I couldn't fathom that they would subject the public to some of their shenanigans. What looks harmless from the vantage point of a dog owner is decidedly not harmless from the vantage point of a passerby with no knowledge of their dog.

I'm sure a lot of PO workers can tell stories of dogs running at them from nowhere because the dog owners failed to foresee that an open door or their here-to-fore mild unleashed dog in the front yard could get all territorial.

My worst bite was from a dog that was unleashed in the front yard. I came running by the yard on the sidewalk and I didn't even know there was a dog there until my calf had a dog attached. I don't bike/run by unleashed dogs anymore.

I'm not saying that this particular PO worker doesn't have issues, but rather to present a viewpoint that might shed some light from where those issues could have arisen.

You should check the ACLU, they probably protect dumb-ass slumlords too.

I'd bet your postal carrier is a neighbor, and not the only one who is tired of you already.

The grammar reminds me of Cesar, a bit.

I agree with Cheese re dogs. I love dogs but am very hesitant around unleashed ones especially if I'm running. I imagine as a postal carrier they've seen it all and know there can be good reasons for avoiding loose dogs.

I guess the postal workers are on the war path. On the wettest week of the year so far I was tagged for a slick porch -- immediate notice that I have no delivery until it is fixed to the Post Office's liking and after 11/12 they are returning my mail to the sender. It was a substitute carrier that made the complaint. I have had no problems with the regular carrier or UPS or FedEx. I called and spoke to the safety person and asked for specific criteria. He couldn't really give me any other than to city code. I told him that houses are not required to have slip resistant materials on their porches and he needs to be more specific, i.e., to provide me with the code requirements so that it is fixed appropriately. Once I get some slip resistant material onto the deck, I wonder what's going to happen if this same substitute carrier is around when it snows!

Had a great letter carrier when I lived in Greenlake. During Christmas week Joninna would deliver little packages of treats for all the well-behaved dogs on her route.
