Who in the Hell in there right mind drives under the influence with a child in the car !!! Why is the poor kid being dragged around so late at night ?

Need a license to drive but not to be a parent... Un facebooking Believable

    http://www.seattlepi.com/local/komo/article/1-killed-3-injured-in-suspected-DUI-crash-3619391.php

A woman suspected of driving under the influence with her 4-year-old son in the car triggered a three-car crash that killed one person and injured three others Thursday night in Federal Way, police said.

The woman who caused the crash also was driving without her headlights on when she crossed into oncoming traffic on busy Pacific Highway South, said Cathy Schrock of the Federal Way police.

Yeah BH, I was driving southbound on 99 through Federal Way last night & had to take photos of an idiot in a white Ford F150 in front of me repeatedly swerving in & out of his lane left & right, speeding up, slowing down, lurching into several left turn lanes only to whip back out of them & continue on.

He was obviously impaired but I couldn't tell if he was drunk or texting.

I saw that accident report too and was very dismayed that an innocent woman died.

I was behind a red sports car for several miles at the I90 to I5 northbound interchange. It was fairly busy so I got to see her randomly slow down, speed up, lurch as the car slinks to the edge of a lane. A huge accident just trying its best to happen at 50 to 60mph.

Finally had space to pass her (I left a huge buffer before that). Heads down teen texting all the way. I didn't have a pencil handy and I was usually very far behind to get a license plate. She will be lucky to make it to middle-age. I hope she just doesn't take anyone with her like the poor women yesterday.

Yeah, it happens. The news is...?

Really, it DOES happen. The best thing is to be aware yourself and don't let the actions of others interfere with what you have going on. While it seems harsh to say there's no news here, there isn't. Parents leave their kids around loaded weapons, people run over their kids, people blow themselves up in meth incidents, etc.

It just is. I drive around plenty of idiots, I drive up Aurora at around midnight. The best/safest thing I can do is not be around someone driving like a jackass. I can't change it, heck even calling cell phone 911 doesn't do all that much so I protect myself. I even have it in the back of my head that if I'm stopped at a light and someone approaches the car looking too sketchy (ie approaching the car, not walking in a crosswalk) I will run the red light.

It's all nice and well to judge but again the only thing that is practical is to ensure you're not involved in any kind of accident.

that's awesome! I agree totally you need to be hyper-aware of your surroundings, especially late at night.

my sister used to drive home in the middle of the night for work and told me she thought about 1/2 the drivers on the road were likely drunk.

I work on Weds til 8pm and take Aurora home from Lynn-Hood and the amount of drunk drivers is amazing and then add the jay walkers on 99 coming from everywhere. It is like playing "Frogger" in 3d

GI, ages ago I drove from West Seattle over the hill to 509. I started work at something crazy like 4am. As I was on a side road before getting on 509, these two guys were in the middle of the road blocking it and trying to flag me down. I started to slow and realized I was in a really isolated part of town at a very quiet time of the morning. I sped up and drove on the shoulder to go around. I called the police figuring if they did have a problem, then the police could help. If they were up to no good, the police could help that too. I almost did stop but people do crazy things to get you out of your element. Ever since then, especially in the middle of the night/early morning, I look at who's around me when I'm stopped.

that's pretty freaky t--sounds like one of many CSI-type shows (the beginning anyway when the crime is going down).

I'd be especially cautious after that Bellevue woman was carjacked and killed last week by that disturbed guy.

I was wondering initially if she tried to fight him off (since I think I heard a few reports that they were struggling). If it reached that point, I'd hope you'd hand the guy your keys.
