Howdy. Silly as it seems, I need a hide-a-can safe.(ya know, one of those looks like something else but hides small stuff and cash things)? I know Amazon has them but I need it tomorrow for a gag gift, so can't wait for shipping. Help!!!! :-)

Boy, you're thinking ahead....Is Crchie Mcfee's still open? Probably not. How about a nice card?

Hmmm, used to be a head shop down on about 32nd and 85th. Think it's a cafe now. Good lead if I can find one,Phoo!
Archie McFee is still alive and well in Wallingford but I don't remember seeing anything like a hide-a-can in there. Worth a look, though.

make your own. Buy a totally WTF book at Goodwill and carve out a space in the middle pages with an x-acto knife.

I remember doing this as a kid looking to stash my money away.

plus, you get to pick the most inappropriate book you can find (as opposed to an obviously fake can of beans).

There is a smoke shop across the street from the old Fred Meyers on 85th. They sell a lot of paraphenalia so they should have it.

How about Spencer gifts? Would they have them? You can get xray glasses and vibrators and halloween costumes while you are there. A classy store if there ever was one.

GG - Yes, way beyond time. :-)

I think I found one, thanks to one of Phoo's links. But I'm way too tired to go out there tonight. A quest for tomorrow afternoon. To be continued.....

Oh, and I've done the money hidden in a book thing with a nephew, though not a carved out section, just stuck bills in a random section. I thought about it for this too.
    Thanks for all the suggestions!

I have found these "hide-in-a-cans" at locksmiths. And, I have used them for gifts before--fun! I suggest calling locksmiths (there's one in Ballard) or home security firms. Good luck!

Locksmiths. Hadn't even considered that. Thanks, Ballardtrees!
Through every fault of my own time ran short and I just ended up putting the cash in a Pringles can. But I do plan on still getting some hide-a-cans for future.

Absolute Security Alarms on Market Street has them and/or can order them (I know this because I just "won" a hideaway can/safe at a local fundraising auction). Here's their contact information:

    1715 Northwest Market Street Seattle, WA 98107 - (206) 257-1951
