Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes are calling it quits after being married for five years. The couple are also parents to a 6-year-old daughter, Suri.

Jonathan Wolfe, Katie Holmes' attorney has confirmed the news, offering this statement to People magazine:

"This is a personal and private matter for Katie and her family. Katie's primary concern remains, as it always has been, her daughter's best interest."

You should check out the blogs of kids who have escaped from scientologist camps. Their's is one screwed up childhood.

I know of someone that did and it is down right scary. They won't even allow the parent to stay in contact anymore with there daughter. I am happy Katie came to her senses and wonder if his belief in Scientology was the major factor. Bad PR for Scientology recently with there trophy members Cruise & Travolta.

I can tell it is a Friday, and also that I am woefully out of touch with popular culture. My first thought on reading this topic title was...

Who is Katie? And what does Apple and Siri have to do with Scientology?

    Sigh.

D - :) When I saw the "breaking news" I wasn't surprised. Wonder if Tom's next love he'll be jumping up on a couch & acting the fool like he did on Oprah when first going with Katie.

BH - "NBR" would be a helpful addition to the title.

Teigyr? I didnt think one's inner Thetan approved of same sex coupling? Elrond viewed it as being " far from normal and extremely dangerous to society " (for those who love citations....that was from a passage in Dianetics. One of my favorite reasons to think we are all doomed!!! <grin>)

Certainly an individual like Mr Cruise, who has reached high levels in Scientology, would have cleansed himself of any tendencies like that before they lowered his tone scale below the peak of 40. Homosexuals were given a score of 1.1, "the level of the pervert, the hypocrite, the turncoat, ... the subversive." Such people were "skulking coward[s] who yet contains enough perfidious energy to strike back, but not enough courage ever to give warning."

Say it ain't so Teigyr!! Say it ain't so!! I could never watch a Tom Cruise movie again!!

    <grin>

Maybe now Katie Holmes will start smiling again. I haven't seen her smile much in pictures since marrying that guy.....

Around age 12 I spent a weekend with a Pentecostal family. Can't imagine how those kids turned out.

    Run, Katie! Run!

YouTube has many interviews of people who had witnessed or were victims of a childhood in Scientology. I hope Katie speaks about what she has seen.

An actor named Jason Beghe witnessed Scientology from the inside: http://www.xenutv.com/blog/?cat=171

OK, I'll try to turn this to be even more NBR: was anyone else disappointed that the MI movies totally dumped the TV series' emphasis on psychological manipulation of the targets? Most of the fun of the original series was watching the MI team fool (not coerce!) the target into doing what they wanted.

I was disappointed that Zellwegger dropped her drawers so quickly. Cruise is not that good. Different film. Who cares. Me apparently.

racerX, was bad when it came out - still is. But good try - this may have been his best. Even Tom Hanks was better in Bosom Buddies then Cruise was in .. well anything

Bosom Buddies was really good. If they don't start playing reruns of that show soon, I'm going to start hoping for a remake.
