I apologize to everyone for the noise.
I was trying to use Liquid Plumber instead of Drano to clear a clogged drain. silly me!

Now THAT was a proper storm. Growing up here I never really had a chance to see an actual bolt of lightning. My view at work let me witness an actual bolt all the way down to the ground about 1/2 mile away. So cool.
still going strong after a half-hour!
you were deprived growing up here Rudy. glad you finally saw a nice bolt!
if you're ever in the SW, check out this place (to make up for lost time):

Storm only lasted about 15 minutes over on the Eastside. I can still see some strikes to the West though. I'm not sure if I want to go hang out in someplace called The Lightning Field after today seeing the fireball at the end of the bolt.
KIRO said unconfirmed reports that lightning hit a house in Ballard, anyone know anything?
According to 911 dispatch, there were fire units dispatched to a house in Ballard at 1040 - I'd like to hear more about the story - I could see the lightening bolts and they were very close - I wouldn't be surprised if they struck a house.
7348 15th Ave. N.W. is what KOMO reported, but 911 dispatch says it was that address on 13th.
I thought it was my bowels after eating at walrus and the carpenter the other night
years ago, starting to walk up the back alley towards my house from NW 67th between 33rd and 34th NW, blinding flash, hit just at top of alley entrance, damaged my eardrums...
Is there another front coming in? I have heard a couple of distant booms again, despite the sunshine.
Ok, they are slightly less distant now and much more frequent.
Looks like we'll have showers of thunderstorms off and on through tomorrow. Odd behaviour, but delightful.
I heard we should expect a bit of thunder tonight, and then it should be blowing past.
It looks like the front is moving from Se to NW And from 4 PM to 7 PM there were lots of loud rumblings. And now at 8 PM the cloud formations in the northern sky are fantastic. I just wish I knew the names of all the cloud formations. And I have the Audubon Field Guided to North American Weather! Now I should read it and learn!
I was on Capitol Hill last night, cuddling the boyfriend's anxious puppy. For about fifteen minutes the rain was coming down faster than the gutters could manage it, and sheeting over the edge. That may have been the heaviest rain I've ever seen! There was 2-3 inches of standing water in all of the pots on the deck in no time! Kewl!!
