Who went yesterday? What food was amazing?

I'm going to head there today and would like some recommendations. In the past my favorite food has been the scalloritos (bacon wrapped scallop burritos). Anything else I just have to try?

We liked the halibut tacos with pico de gallo sauce. It was one of the first booths that you see as you turn on to Leary.

Felt sorry for the deep-fried PB&J booth, they had so many workers but no takers...at least when we went by.

I did the $10 salmon plate. It's a tradition for me, and I'll do it again today if they still have some. Yum!

Too bad about all the smokers hanging out outside the wine garden. Blech! Perhaps the winds will be better today.

Deep-Fried PB&J just doesn't say "Ballard" to me...

Deep fried PBJ was there last year and handing out samples, so I tried it. It isn't something I would pay money for, unfortunately. Pretty much a donut with peanut butter added. I'd rather have an actual doughnut. With my fried-food calorie budget something salty is usually more to my liking anyhow. We're targeting onion rings when we go over to the festival in a bit.

I intended to seek out the deep fried pb&j but circumstance led me to Ballard Pizza. A more than worthy diversion. Worthy mention, though, to the people working the always crowded beer garden. Awesome job all.

I got the scallorito like I always do and it was fantastic! After walking around for awhile we walked back to the food area for seconds. I was going to get the scallop bowl but the line was so long that I decided to go with something else. I got a crab melt, it was pretty good but not amazing. My sister got two halibut tacos, which I thought were pretty good but she thought were fantastic. I just wish it had been sunny. If I didn't love seafood so much I might have tried the fried pb&j, I love pb&j and love fried foods so I can't see how you could go wrong on that one! It was fun as always, just sad that I missed the eating contest yesterday. That's always quite a show!

I should have gone for the tacos (halibut), and I don't recall the scalloritos but sounds like it may be next years favorite! I had a really disappointing "crab cake" on dirty rice with sauce...was more like a dough ball with crab essence and mystery sauce.
A big ol' strawberry shortcake was enough to make me forget all that though (least for a bit!).

I was disappointed with the scallorito! It seemed the scallops were way overcooked and it was just a boring bed of lettuce with no pop of flavor. Bf's oyster po' boy looked much better, maybe we're just spoiled by Anthony's awesome happy hour? We thought the deep-fried snickers was awesome, but ill admit I was a little scared to try it!!

Also, what's with the food trucks from God knows where serving up pre-made/frozen crab cakes? I'm feeling a little wtf about this...I thought since we live in a seafood community in a seafood city we would have plenty of local establishments, not the vulchers just trying to take us for a ride serving crap at top dollar?!

Great job on the food selections this year, Seafood Fest. Yeah, there were a few prefab-looking offerings but overall the choices were terrific. Not just the usual Seattle-festival suspects. We missed out on the BBQ oysters but the onion rings in that booth were to die for. Wish I could have also eaten the fried zucchini, but there is only so much fried I can take in a day anymore. Ah, bygone youth! Pete's BBQ sliders were yummy as was their gumbo. No more room to try India Bistro but that also looked promising, and the fried calamari booth was sold out. This year we ate other stuff, but some years when we didn't have much money to spend at the festival we enjoyed the bargain fishburgers from Trident. They are basic, but tasty, wholesome and cheap.

I also thought the overall caliber of the artists' booths was higher than in past years even though what I liked was out of my price range and we didn't give ourselves much time for browsing.
