The other night I was sitting on my back steps and a possum walked right up to me. Ugh. Possums are gross. I yelled at it and it wandered off but what the heck? I grew up in the country and never had a possum just stroll on up.

There is a whole family of 5 raccoons that climb up and over my neighbor's fence in order to nose around the trash on this side.

I once rescued a Opossum that had gotten himself trapped in a hole in the ground that surrounded a basement window. After getting him out, he ran straight into the second hole. The second rescue went faster, but sheesh.

My mother had an entire family of mom and baby Opossums living in her shed. She declared them "cute." Ugly, hissing cute.. maybe.

There was a tiny cloud resting on top of one of the Olympics at sunset tonight. A small stroke of silvery blue against all the purple and orange. What a wonderful world...

I'm with GAM. I was driving back over the Ballard Bridge this evening just at sunset. Although the sky was clear, there was a single jet flying south high above, trailing a contrail. At that altitude, it was still catching the reddened light of the setting sun, making the tiny plane look like a rocket trailing glowing red exhaust as it launched into space.

Great moon!

Snails are big. Snails are gross. Snails are all over my newly polyurethaned display board. Snails like poly UGH!
I knocked them off and 10 minutes later they were all back on it. UGH!

My kids are obsessed with snails. Has anyone seen any banana slugs recently? I haven't seen any in ages.

It is a glorious morning. The sun is hitting the young apples in the tree behind my house. I think they're still too young to eat, but not to admire.
