From lost dog alert posted on craigslist 8/15. See dog's photo posted here...

    http://seattle.craigslist.org/see/laf/3206752608.html

"Our cream Frenchie, Bow, was lost this evening, about 20 minutes ago. He had has shots today, but seemed completely normal until about 3:30 am, when he woke up with a yelp. My husband took him outside to go potty, and when he called for him about a minute later, he was gone. He is not wearing any tags or collar at the moment, but does have a registered Home Again microchip.

His vet is Dr. Donovan at Northwest Veterinary Hospital.

Our number is 206-890-8090; any help would be greatly appreciated! We're very worried about him."

I'll keep my eyes peeled just the same, but the rest of us dog-owners go through the trouble of building fences to keep our pets safe.
it sounds like they just let him out the front door and expect that he'll come back.

GI - you are assuming. Could have been a gate accidentally left open, a space between bottom of fence and ground. It's bad enough their dog is missing and you have to try and lay a guilt trip on them.

I'm just trying to prevent it happening again.

I see many people do this for whatever reason. maybe they grew up on a farm.

"maybe they grew up on a farm."

Pile on, GI, maybe you were born in a barn?

you wish I was born in a barn.

The link on Craigslist it gone. It looks like they finally sold their dog.

Next up: Gently used can of beans will trade for new luggage or old shoe.

Yay, another happy ending! They emailed me to let us know... :-)

"Thanks so much...Bow has been located - the little nut was picked up shortly after he bolted by a kind police officer at 7-11 and was taken to the Seattle Animal Shelter. He's been busted out of the slammer and is now safely (collared!) at home.

    Thank you!!"

  14. And so, at the risk of being a nag... if you had a collar with a tag on him, he would have been home "shortly" instead of the next day. All that agonizing for nothing!

So what intrigues me is that during the middle of the night "the kind police officer" was hanging out at 7-11. I guess we don't have any open all night diners here in Seattle like they do back east.
