Anyone know why the bus shelter at 85th and 24th was removed? I tried to call the phone number that was listed on Metro's website for bus shelter concerns. Surprise - nobody there knew where to go for that information. They took my name and number and said I should try calling back in a week.

If Metro deems that a bus stop doesn't have enough people using it to warrant a shelter, they'll remove it and put it elsewhere. I've seen them removed from the 17 route to Ballard from downtown.

Metro does refurbishment to the shelters every 7 years, so there's a possibility that it's just being cleaned and repaired.

Also, within the city of Seattle, Metro aims to have a shelter at any stop with greater than 50 boardings/day if it feasible to install a shelter at a location. I would imagine that the southbound stop at 85th/24th would be busy enough.

wasn't this the stop that someone was complaining about on the forum a couple of weeks ago?
about buses left running outside their house..or something...someone gave them the contact info for a "higher up"...maybe they were successful with their complaint??

I hope that metro would not punish the riders (by removing the shelter) for the sins of the bus drivers.

@Joe, from what I can tell, the earlier commenter lives near the northbound layover for the route 18. The shelter that was removed was for the southbound stop at 24th/85th. So, the two issues are probably unrelated.

@Andrew. Yeah that is probably true. I guess that I will probably end up calling and calling metro until I get someone who knows something.

You know, it would be so nice if metro would just treat its customers like real customers and maybe give us a little notice of what they are doing. Even for small things like this.

But, you are not their customer, you are but a captive audience, with no options.

It's a dream come true for the crooks. Make sure you vote yes for the next pocket picking endeavor, or, they'll make you suffer.

Truth is, you'll suffer, whether you fund the crooks or not.
