I'm feeling a little ill after reading about the transfer of Mark Hendricks from the Ballard Boys & Girls Club to the Federal Way branch, and that Exec moving to Ballard. The details aren't out, but it's as if he did such a great job, he and the community are now being punished. Like a really good teacher being promoted to principal, and not being around the kids they helped anymore.
Mark is a mainstay of this community and in my mind irreplaceable.

I have been around for a while. We all pay attention right? Well let us just apply some straight thinking here and look at the formula.
Boys and Girls Club:
Property: Located on HIGH VALUE land in a HIGH VALUE neighborhood.
Mark Hendricks: Straight shooter, good for community brings in solid donations, now he is being prevented for doing his best work. And PODS are taking over to handle universal donations? PLEASE!Come on peeps... you do know what is probably/most likely/allegedly happening here right? Right?
Successful person displaced and dislodged from community, board withstands the storm, amends are made apologies are given... we have seen this before right...?
The Ballard Club is probably doomed. Stay ahead of the game and prevent this from happening. Don't let them lead you down their path. Get out your "Public Record/Land Use" search tools and demand the board meeting minutes and hold this board accountable...
Shock and Awe folks that is what you are the victims of, most likely.
Prepare yourselves for the "One must fall to save the many device" - the money used to sell this club will save the others... blah, blah, blah.... (allegedly)
*** I state the above only as one possibility in a universe of many possibilities based on the way the public statement was handled and the evasiveness and disrespect the board has shown in handling this situation... these behaviors are stepping stones that help to predict future behavior. Allegedly.

Anybody aware of the professional background of the current Board of Directors of the Boys and Girls Club? Worth researching I am sure.

Seems to me that people are more likely to donate to a specific club they've got a geographical or other connection with; I agree that the "pod" scheme for general donations sounds ill-considered, as does the lack of transparency with the community and the unseemly rush to implement the director swap.
